Public sector undertakings (PSUs) play a major role in overall socio-economic development of our country and in catering to those sectors of the economy where private sector investment is not feasible.

Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) have adapted well to the changing and challenging market dynamics and have taken advantage of business opportunities created by liberal economic policies. Several PSEs have diversified their businesses in the country as well as made global footprints. While some PSEs have performed extraordinarily and even private sector companies look at them for inspiration, there are several behemoths who have failed dramatically.

Sensing the challenging scenario under which PSEs have to perform and in recognition to their contribution to the people and society of India; country's leading newsmagazine India Today has instituted a special award for the Central government's public sector undertakings (PSUs) on various aspects of performance.

To objectively evaluate the relative merits and demerits of PSEs on various parameters, their participation is solicited through this objective participation form.
